My Mother’s Poppies – 3D Sculptural Painting

Spring and Sumner were always very special growing up. I grew up in Alaska and warm sunny weather is a rare thing. As a child, I tried to soak up every moment I could. I ran around the woods with my brothers, rode bikes for miles and miles, and played in the lakes. We grew some small gardens with various veggies and a lot of potatoes, and, one year when I was very young, my Mom decided to plant California Poppies in a portion of our front yard.

I don’t believe she was happy with the results. Perhaps not many actually bloomed. I don’t recall. However, I do remember being enchanted by the bright orange flowers. The hot oranges glow in my memory of happy warm days and childhood bliss.
